Application Information

Please complete the United States Citizenship Attestation Form and the Application for Registration to Practice Land Surveying or the Application for Surveyor-In-Training. Every question on the application form should be answered. The only record of your experience which the Board has to evaluate your qualifications is the information provided by you on the application form. An incorrectly completed application may be counted as a failure and you would not be permitted to take the examination. The main reason applicants are not permitted to take the examination is that they do not meet the experience requirements.

It is suggested that you carefully read and understand the Nebraska Statutes and also the By-Laws and Rules of the Board of Examiners which are published in the annual report.

If you are applying to become a registered land surveyor please remember that Nebraska State Statute 81-8,117 requires that all but one year of the required 6 years of experience be in land surveying as defined in Nebraska State Statute 81-8,109.

When considering your application, the Board determines your experience to the date of your application and not to the date of the examination.

If your application is denied for any reason the application fee will not be refunded. To reapply to take the examination you will be required to submit a new application and the appropriate fee. Any applicant who has been denied registration as a Land Surveyor or Surveyor-in-Training in Nebraska due to failure of the written examination must submit proof of completion of fifteen hours of professional development (as per Chapter 3 paragraph 002 of the Rules and Regulations of the Board) along with the application.

You are encouraged to submit your application as soon as possible to allow your references sufficient time to complete and return the questionnaire. Upon receipt of the reference questionnaires, your application will be considered at the next scheduled board meeting.

Please return the completed application along with the $40.00 application fee to the Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors, 555 N. Cotner Blvd., Lower Level, Lincoln, NE 68505.
